Hosting the holidays can be a bustling affair, but it shouldn’t have to add to your stress. Here are a few ‘must-haves’ to prepare before your guests start to arrive:

Décor

Holiday decorations can range from $ to $$$, but certainly adds to the ambiance of your home. From the wreath on your door to the lights hung meticulously around the outer edge of your home, there are few things that bring holiday cheer more than your own spunky décor. The trick is to add a little bit to your collection each year so you don’t overwhelm your bank account.

Music

Whether you start playing holiday music the day after Halloween or the day after Thanksgiving, music releases endorphins and will uplift your guests’ spirits while they visit. So invest in a solid sound system to help your guests feel more at ease.

Bar Cart

Having a little bar cart in your main hosting area is just a little something extra to really impress your friends and family. Even if you don’t consume alcohol, fill it with holiday treats, sparkling cider, etc. for guests to easily access.

Tableware

Your centerpiece for the holidays is certainly going to be your dining table. Decorate for dinner with festive, matching tableware settings. It’s highly recommended that you purchase something simple with minor embellishments so you can use them for each holiday. Pro tip: Set the table 2 days before everyone arrives so you don’t have to worry about it the day of.

Sleeper Sofa

As many family members make their way in from out of town, you may need some extra room for unexpected sleepovers. Opt in for one with a foam mattress (those spring mattresses get quite uncomfortable) and ask yourself “would I willingly sleep on this?” before purchasing.

Hosting the holidays is no easy feat! The dates on your calendars are likely already set, but there’s still plenty of time to prepare. If you need a little extra help decking your halls, visit www.progleasing.com to find local partner retailers to get you what you need!
