This year brings on new challenges to retailers holiday shoppers with the Coronavirus Pandemic where most stores have opted-out of in-store Black Friday shopping. So where are the best deals at? We’ve put together a mini guide to help you prepare this holiday season without needing to stand in line at your local stores.

Shopping Starts Now

Unlike years past, holiday sales have started as early as October this year to offset major crowds. Major retailers have already stocked up on holiday décor and are hosting weekly sales events to encourage shoppers to start spending a little earlier.

Expect Shipping Delays

Online shopping has skyrocketed the last few months and coupled with the pandemic has brought massive shipping delays. With the heightened sales to be expected during the holidays, it’s best to overcompensate for your delivery times to ensure your packages get delivered on time.

In the past, shoppers might have been able to order something online two days before Christmas, but that is not likely to be the case this year. Experts are anticipating a cut-off date as early as December 15th to get your deliveries on time.

“For consumers, that means if you see something you like and it’s out there early, you might want to scoop it up early,” said Craig Johnson, president of the retail consulting group CGP.

Curbside Pickup

With shipping delays creating concern for a lot of customers, more retailers are implementing curbside pickup at their locations to offset shipping and packaging costs. As long as you follow instructions on pickup times, this seems like the best option for shoppers to guarantee their purchases on time.

Price Matching

With price matching generally blocked out during the holiday season, a lot of retailers are lifting the ban to entice shoppers to stop by their locations. Make sure to do some extra research to get the best price!

Online and App Deals

With e-commerce sales skyrocketing 35% more this year, a lot of retailers have invested in a more user-friendly online and app shopping experience. There may not be any doorbuster deals going on this year, but you can find exceptional daily prices through individual websites and apps.

It’s never too early to start your holiday shopping! Keep these tidbits in mind as you start adding things to your online cart this year to help make your shopping experience as smooth as possible.
