What to Know About iPhone 13

Apple didn’t completely redesign the iPhone 13, but that doesn’t make it any less of an upgrade than the previous model. Whether you’re paying up for the huge iPhone 13 Pro Max or buying the more affordable 6.1-inch iPhone 13, you can expect a phone with an incredible camera, a lightning-fast chip, longer battery life, and beautiful array of colors. Here’s are a few things to consider if you are thinking of an upgrade:
Design:
The iPhone 13 looks similar to the iPhone 12. At 5.8 by 2.8 by 0.3 inches (HWD) and 6.1 ounces, it’s fairly close to the same size as the iPhone 12, but one-third of an ounce heavier. Because of the slightly different side button positioning, some cases designed for the previous model work, yet others don’t.
Camera:
Creative users have way more options on the new iPhone 13. The A15 Bionic processor improves photo processing making the camera system incredible minus the selfies. It boasts more avenues of expression such as improved stabilization, bright and colorful images, an improved night mode, and photographic styles giving you creative control like a director. The cameras on the rear are now arranged diagonally instead of vertically and the notch is now 20% smaller while still delivering the same TrueDepth camera system and Face ID. The telephoto and macro cameras mean you can shoot at a variety of distances and there’s also a cinematic mode for recording videos with shallow depth of field (1080p at 30 fps).
Display:
The iPhone 13 doesn’t have the adaptive 120Hz refresh rate of the iPhone 13 Pro, however, it’s still a fantastic OLED panel. This Super Retina XDR display is now 28% brighter than the iPhone 12; it’s also rated at 800 nits, compared to 600 nits for last year’s phone.
Battery Life:
Battery life is a substantial upgrade. The iPhone 13 Pro is capable of lasting an entire day. It won’t last quite as long as the iPhone 13 Pro Max, however, it will last longer than any iPhone you have owned before.
5G Connectivity:
You’ll have better quality video streaming, improved gaming, and higher definition FaceTimes, but the super quick mmWave speeds are once again limited to major cities in the United States. Slower sub-6GHz 5G speeds are available in more rural areas in the U.S. and in other countries, and there’s support for more 5G bands for 5G connectivity in more areas. Gigabit LTE is supported when 5G is not available, and to preserve battery life when using 5G, a Smart Data Mode reverts to an LTE connection when 5G speeds aren’t necessary.
With the iPhone 13, the standard-model iPhone is a lot closer to being a pro-level tool than ever before. It delivers the best blend of performance, camera quality, and battery life.
