Spring is no longer just around the corner, it’s here. While the majority of the world has become home-bodies the last two years through the pandemic, it’s no surprise that our closets have been getting fuller as we’ve all purchased some new knick-knacks that have been marketed to us on social media…or maybe you are just looking at that closet of clothes that no longer fit or are no longer in style. Either way, it’s the perfect time to start raiding those closets and cupboards and organize your home. We’ve gathered some of the best must-haves to get you started!

Shoe cabinets

Are you tired of that pile of shoes that builds up by the front door? There are many chic shoe-storage options that and clean that up in no time! From little cubbies to fold out cabinets, there’s something for everyone’s budget here. Use it as a double for an entryway table to dress it up and you’ve completely re-styled your entryway!

Plastic Bins

Away with all the cardboard! Whenever you move, the boxes get trashed and there isn’t enough protection for your things. Although the plastic bins can start to add up in cost, start off by buying a couple a month until you fully replace all the storage boxes in your house with the plastic ones. They stack easier, protect better, and keep for longer!

Upgrade that Closet!

Most homes come standard with those little wire shelves. There’s no built in storage and there are many better ways to utilize the space. Closet makeovers can cost a pretty penny, but there are budget options available starting around $200. If you live in a rental, look for modular options you can take with you if you move! Built in drawers, shelves for tees, longer hanging space for taller garments…the options are endless and will change your life!

Organize that Fridge!

When you think of spring cleaning, you may not be thinking of the four half-empty ketchup bottles in your refrigerator sitting next to two-week takeout. Extra storage bins, silicone mats, upgraded Tupperware will not only clean up your fridge space, but can also make eating in a little more enjoyable!

Vacuum Packed Space Bags

No one wants to look at their winter sweaters taking up room in their closet when it’s 90 degrees outside. Make extra room with your off-season wardrobe by sticking them in a space-saver bag. Fold in your unused items and use your home vacuum to shrink it to a manageable size. Stick those bags in a plastic box in storage until that first snowfall!

These are just a few new ways to get your home de-cluttered, but nothing is going to help more than downsizing what you currently have. Host a yard sale, donate to your local shelter! When you’re done with that, look at what you have left and use these tips to organize what you need. Happy cleaning!
