There’s nothing worse than tossing in turning in bed with frozen toes or laying under a cold blanket. Depending on your location, changing up your bedding can make or break a good night’s sleep. From sheets to heated blankets, here are a few of our favorites to get you through the winter:

Heated Mattress Pad

Forget the heated rice pads, upgrade your bed with a heated mattress pad! These come with several heat settings and a plush, quilted cover. Added bonus: these come with two-sided heat settings so you can adjust your side of the bed to your liking. A heated mattress pad will set you back around $300 and keep you warm all winter long.

Flannel Sheets

Flannel sheets are warmer is because of their fuzzy fibers that help to trap air, creating pockets of warm insulation. Swap out your Egyptian Cotton sheet set for cozy flannel! If you’re wanting a luxurious sleep, opt in for cotton flannel for a breathable and warm slumber.

Upgrade Your Duvet

Did you know each duvet has a rating system called a ‘tog’ that measures its ability to trap air for warmth? Make sure your winter duvet is rated at least a 13.5 for winter months to keep you warm enough. Here is a scale to help you prep your bed for each season:

Summer: 3.5 – 7.5

Spring and autumn: 7.5-10.5

Cold winters: 13.5 – 15

Fleece Throws

Top off your bed with a flannel throw blanket. Added layers are the best way to trap in more air to keep you bundled. The fibers of these materials are curlier, which creates air pockets that trap your body heat better than flat synthetic fibers.

Climate Control Systems

Did you know you can get a system to regulate temperature through your whole bed?  It works by warming air over a ceramic stone in a separate unit, and then blowing that warm air between your sheets and over your body.

Top off these suggestions with your coziest pajamas and you’ll be dancing with sugarplums in no time. Happy snoozing!
