If you’ve got a furry friend then you know how much they love spending time with you. Whether it’s at the park, on a walk, or just hanging out at home on the sofa, there’s nothing they’d rather be doing that being at your side. And what better way to return the love than with some of their very favorite treats?

If you are feeling like getting your baking on, why not cook up some delicious, down-home goodness for yourself and your pet? Think chocolate-dipped bacon for a sweet and savory treat for yourself and peanut butter bacon treats for your pup. Fresh, whole foods such as pumpkin, apples, and yogurt are also great options for your dog if they are used to these ingredients. For cat lovers, how about a sushi night where you grab takeout from the grocery store and a tasty seafood treat for your cat from the pet aisle? If you want to stick with the seafood theme, there are wide varieties of fish-flavored cat treats, including salmon, cod, and tuna. You can also take a can of wet cat food and dress it up with cooked sweet potato and oats if you want to DIY something scrumptious and less fishy for your feline. Remember, whenever you are making additions or subtractions to your pet’s diet, it’s best to talk to your vet first.

When time is not on your side, you can buy your furry friend scrumptious treats online or at your local pet bakery. There are many varieties of rawhide-free chews and high-protein treat options for dogs. Sweet potato is a delicious ingredient for your pup, whether dehydrated, baked, or stuffed in a beef bone! For cat lovers, you can never have enough catnip! You can purchase catnip to sprinkle on your cat’s toys or scratchers or buy catnip treats with other lip-smacking ingredients mixed into them.

And if you want to pair your drink with your pet’s drink, why not consider changing up the location of their water bowl or adding a second water bowl near the location of your date night? You can hydrate while your pet hydrates because let’s face it, most of us are dehydrated anyways. Unsalted meat broth is also a good option if you have a canine companion. You can either buy dog-safe broth or make your broth from beef or chicken marrow as long as your strain any bones from the liquid.
